National Express boosts capacity on its regional network

Published: 31st October 2024

Over 16,000 extra seats per week available on key intercity routes

National Express, the UK’s leading scheduled coach operator, is boosting its network with additional services on key intercity and airport routes.

From 4 December, the coach operator is adding over 16,000 seats per week on some of its popular services between London and Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, London Heathrow, Newcastle, Newport, Nottingham and Manchester. Tickets start from £4.90 one way and are available to book at www.nationalexpress.com.

As demand for affordable intercity travel remains strong, National Express is stepping up by enhancing capacity on its network in response to Megabus recently announcing it is significantly reducing services in England and Wales.

Ed Rickard, Network Director at National Express, said:

“We recognise the growing need for reliable, affordable and convenient public transport options. By increasing capacity and frequency on our key intercity and airport routes, we’re making it even easier for people to get to where they need to be. We’re expecting to see strong demand and have the flexibility to add more capacity when needed, especially as people start to make travel plans for the festive season.”

The coach operator’s investment in providing reliable, frequent and sustainable coach travel follows a 25% increase in customers turning to National Express last year, with 19 million customers travelling on its coach network during 2023.

Ed Rickard adds: “As the nation’s favourite coach travel company, savvy travellers can look forward to the highest standards in safety and comfort on board. We’re excited to welcome new and existing customers and let us do the driving so that they can enjoy a relaxing journey to their destinations.”

National Express’ modern coach services include leather reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, USB charging points and a generous luggage allowance of up to 20kg.

Visit www.nationalexpress.com to plan your journey. Customers are encouraged to book early to get the best deals and guarantee a seat for travel.
