Britain's Best Sandwiches

British Sandwich Week is just around the corner, with 7 whole days dedicated to the humble sandwich. We’ve been travelling up and down the UK for over 50 years and in that time we’ve seen a fair few butties or two! So who better to give you the insider list of Britain’s best sandwiches?

From Bristol to Edinburgh and everywhere in between, let us take your tastebuds on a trip around the UK one sandwich at a time!

Fat Pat's - Manchester

Serving from a hatch down a back alley in the middle of Manchester, this is the definition of a hidden gem! Fat Pat's burst onto the Manchester sandwich scene and have been changing the game with their subs ever since. With offerings like Hot Honey Fried Chicken, Eggplant Muffuletta and their fan favourite Philly Cheese Steak, it’s easy to see why so many have proclaimed Fat Pat’s to be the best sandwich they’ve ever had!

Sandwich Sandwich - Bristol

We couldn’t put this list together without mentioning the famous Sandwich Sandwich in Bristol. This butty institution has been serving up giant, mouth watering sandwiches for over 30 years now and it makes sense why they’ve been this popular for so long! With a menu boasting rare roast beef, chicken kiev and hoisin pulled pork sandwiches there’s something for everyone at Sandwich Sandwich.

Shokupan - Birmingham

Have you ever heard of Shokupan bread? If not, you are missing out. Thanks to this innovative sandwich shop, the people of Brum have been eating delicious Shokupan Sando’s since 2019. Now set up in their new location in Birmingham’s Grand Central, Shokupan are slinging out the tastiest butties with filings including hot pepper chicken, truffled mushroom and mexican beef! They also do banging Detroit style pizza too…

Chatsworth Bakehouse - London

Situated in a little Victorian listed shop front in South London, Chatsworth Bakehouse specialise in incredible focaccia sandwiches. They’re so popular that each Monday at 12:30pm the shop will release pre-orders on their website that sell out in seconds. All served on the freshest homemade focaccia bread, Chatsworth is often seen with queues running the length of the street. By the looks of the sandwiches, it’s easy to see why…

Alby’s  - Edinburgh

Another master of big chunky sandwiches, Alby’s has become a lunchtime staple in Edinburgh with locals swearing by their tasty butties. All served on big fluffy focaccia bread, you can choose from a number of high quality delicious fillings such as buffalo cauliflower, pork souvlaki, broccoli and fennel sausage and panko coley & Puttanesca.
